You need to enable the on-the-fly configuration option in xorg.conf. I think
it is the second option below. Maybe, a bug should be filled to the
ksynaptics package to have a debconf menu to change xorg.conf.
Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
