Is there a working boot.img.gz for installing with an USB stick?

Hi all,

Is there a working boot.img.gz for installing Debian AMD64 with an USB stick available? 

I found one on the Internet (from early june from looking at the timestamp) but that one, if used in the rescue mode, stops while setting up syslogd and refuses to continue...
