Let me guess, this hldsupdatetool.bin is a shell script?
If so, are you sure it's not simply in DOS-format (meaning the end of
lines are of DOS-style)? To check that open hldsupdatetool.bin with VIM
for example, and look at the lowest line of the screen if there is some
"[dos]" appearing.
