Welp, in the end, they're not your packages, or mine, so whatever compramise we can work out between the owners of the packages is what we're going to have to live with. I certainly don't see your concerns as that big of a deal and if this is how the package maintainers want to do it, then so be it. If you'd like to do something productive you could file a bug report against the appropriate X package. Thanks, Stephen
