The driver has two parts - the kernel module, and the NVidia GLX (userspace half). You need both and your output is clearly saying you have only installed one of them:
client glx vendor string: SGI client glx version string: 1.2
You'll get a reasonable speed anyway probably, but it's software acceleration. That may be enough anyway, depending on what you need it for.
