 Even if you don't run AMD64 software on it right away, it's still fast in
"legacy" mode.  Once Intel's and AMD's amd64 CPUs are the de-facto standard,
you'll be ready.

 Install dchroot.  It's an suid chroot that drops you in your chroot as your
user account.  You don't have to su back to your account after chrooting as
root.  Also, you'll probably want to mount --bind /home inside your chroot.
