On a Celeron system?  Well, I'll take back all those nasty things I said
about the Alpha and if a bit ZOT hits some ex-DEC employees, sorry about
that...

It has the standard PC164SX controller which is CY82C693.
Definitely a kernel problem.  I have not have ONE ide sqeak since then.
I just don't know why it suddenly decided to play up two days ago.
