this generally indictes monitor - card specs mismatch. What frequency ranges
did you give for your monitor? if they are too limited, then quite a lot of
the available modes become not available.
Try increasing the ranges. eg horziontal refresh : 30-50, vertical sync 50-90
(which is what my Matrox Mill is doing at the moment on a 15" 1024x768 at 8
bits)
