Hm, sorry if I was misinformed. I now believe this was a FreeBSD
experience and I got confused. I am sorry about that, as I hate
getting misinformation spread. So thanks for correcting me on this.

Actually: No. The cd-writer driver *could* be a superset of the plain
cdrom driver, and it was planned this way in FreeBSD prior to version
3.0. Again, sorry that I got confused.
