OSF mmap flags 0201

Hi,

Few remarks in using Debian/GNU linux on alpha:

My latest sendmail (8.9.1-15) still gives loads and loads of
`unimplemented OSF mmap 0201' messages. Should this
 - either be implemented in alpha
 - not be used in sendmail?

Nfs-server (2.2beta37-1) seems to stop working after a couple of days
or under high workload. Stopping and starting let me continue. I am
not sure if this is alpha related, it might also happen on i386.

Mounting a cdrom from a scsi CD R/W device (Philips 3600) lead to a
weird lockup of all scsi devices: I got messages

Jan 5 11:42:30 Alpha kernel: SCSI host 0 abort (pid 964714) timed out - resetti
ng
Jan 5 11:42:30 Alpha kernel: SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0.
Jan 5 11:42:32 Alpha kernel: (scsi0:0:0:0) Using wide (16 bit) transfers.
Jan 5 11:42:32 Alpha kernel: (scsi0:0:0:0) Synchronous at 20.0MHz, offset 8.
Jan 5 11:42:34 Alpha kernel: SCSI host 0 abort (pid 964714) timed out - resetti

Jan 5 11:42:35 Alpha kernel: SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0.

repeating indefinitely. Although shells were still working, disc
access stopped working and I couldn't bring down the machine.
Filesystem was damaged a fair amount (more than normal when kflushd
still can access the hard drive). How the messages ended up in
kernel.log i don't actually understand. The kernel is 2.0.35 patched for
alpha (0.2). This seems like a pretty serious kernel bug, although i
don't think the CD R/W drive can be trusted.

The Alpha is a pc164sx/533, if i understand the nomenclature
correctly.

Best regards,

---david
