using apt to list dependencies...
This is useful enough I thought it should be duplicated here...good
for our getting rid of out of date dependencies...

FWIW, Jason Gunthorp informed me that 'apt-cache showpkg ...' can be
used to work out the dependant packages list in a very rapid and
efficient manner.
# apt-cache showpkg /var/cache/apt/pkgcache.bin libstdc++2.8
Package: libstdc++2.8
Versions: 2.90.29-0.6,
Reverse Depends:
qps,libstdc++2.8
dxpc,libstdc++2.8
kmpg,libstdc++2.8
