Should libdb1-dev be removed?

Hi.  There is a package libdb1-dev in hamm for the alpha tree, and there
is an 'important' bug filed against it.  The package does not exist in
hamm for any other architecture.

I asked Mark Eichin about it, and he said:

"Perhaps someone on the alpha side should be sure it gets removed from
that release, as it is replaced by libc6-dev or libc5-altdev (maybe
libdb1-altdev?) depending..."

Can it be removed?  If so, can someone file a bug against ftp.debian.org
to that effect?
