NIS trouble ?

Hi,

we installed recently a PC164LX which was quite smooth.

1. There are some unresolved dependencies with libc5 (ncurses3.0 and gdb).
What is the right way to deal with them ? Ignoring ;-)

2. We don't get any form of ypbind to work.
With ypcat we get the specified map five times.
Example output:
$ypcat auto.master

auto_import -rw,soft,intr,nosuid,timeo=15,retry=1
auto_home -rw,intr,nosuid,timeo=15,retry=1

yp_all: clnt_call: RPC: (unknown error code); s1 = 8241982542932440179, s2 = 199269559924

No such map auto.master. Reason: RPC failure on NIS operation

Additionally we can't log in with yp which is probably due to this problem.

We tried to compile the stock nis-2.20, nis-3.0 and some RedHat stuff.
Every time we got the same message.

On a Debian i386 machine we don't see any of these problems (nis-2.20).

Somebody has got a working nis who can help us ?

Greetings,

				Christian

It sets the sand a-blowing,
And the blackberries a-growing.
