route problems...

Hi all...

I'm having problems with /sbin/route, when I provide a netmask to
the "route add -net"...

This works ok:

ifconfig eth0 1.1.1.44 netmask 255.255.255.224 broadcast 1.1.1.63
route add -net 1.1.1.32 netmask 255.255.255.224 dev eth0
route add -net 1.1.1.16 netmask 255.255.255.248 gw 1.1.1.55

but all these fail with "SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable":

route add -net 1.1.1.64 netmask 255.255.255.192 dev eth0
route add -net 1.1.1.128 netmask 255.255.255.192 dev eth0
route add -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.0.0 reject

My netbase is version 3.00-1, kernel is 2.0.32 with
alpha-patches-2.0.32-0.1.gz and raid145-971022-2.0.31.

Ideas??
