Install problems with Deb 2.1 / Cabriolet board

Hi all..

I am trying to install 2.1 on a Digital Cabriolet machine. When I get to
"Install Operating System Kernel and Modules" I get an error about
broken loop device. I cannot read the whole screen..either moves to fast
or the menu covers the text.

It's pretty obvious that what's to be done is not getting done at this
stage.....

any ideas?

The system:
Cabriolet board with 275mhz cpu and 2M cache, adaptec 2940uw 12X scsi
Panasonic cdrom, 128M memory, Matrox Mill, 850 IDE hard drive -I am
installing to this drive - connected to a Promise EIDE PRO (I know it's
slow..but I can't get the scsi drive back until Tuesday)
