That's exactly my point: I can make the speakup shortcut be able to just
raise the volume to the maximum that the hardware supports. But then

So the question is raised: are people fine with the volume *granularity*
that the speakup shortcut provide ?
Please answer the specific question I ask, otherwise we can't progress.
