Re: Volume control on debian system? (Was: Bug#985666: alsa-utils: no sound after installation)

Hi, My view is why not just use the same settings as the installer as speech is working then and it serves no point for a user like myself to do an accessible installation with or without a graphical desktop only to find that speech is enabled but not working when the system reboots into the installed system.  Why not just copy the installation volume settings over to the installed system as this is what users would think would happen? It is always easier to lower down the volume than to increase it.

If you require privacy during or after first boot, using headphone is
advised.
But if we set the maximum volume, we might be just breaking the user's
ears, which will be a serious problem as well :/
