Re: new 10.3 install, Gnome, screen reader starts talking then system appears to freeze, how can I troubleshoot?

Thanks Jude for the response. On one attempt, after I hear "screen
reader on" I tried Alt+F2, orca --replace, still silent.

On the next attempt, after I hear "screen reader on, 13 push button",
I do nothing. About four minutes later, I hear "panel. long pause.
panel. 13 push button grayed". No keys speak. I also try the Alt+F2,
orca --replace and nothing happens.

Let's talk about software selection. SSH server and standard utilities
are constant, let's leave those out of this discussion.

I have consistently chosen just "Gnome". Do I need to choose both
"Gnome" and "Debian desktop environment"? I have no idea what Debian
desktop environment is, because the other environment choices are very
specific like Gnome, KDE and Mate.
