I have used it, but not often.  I think it's an important package, but I'm 
no DD or DM and have almost no emacs knowledge.  Perhaps working with the 
emacs maintainers might be a good idea.  I think there is a DD who uses it, 
but I'm not sure.  Speakup reads emacs output, but Emacspeak is a better choice.
