You can also change the speech rate by switching to layer 8 and then
using keypad 4 to decrease rate, 5 to return to default, or 6 to
increase rate.
To get to layer 8, press num-lock when gnopernicus starts, then press
keypad 0 followed by keypad 8. You should here gnopernicus say "layer
8."

P.S. Layer 0 has most of the review functions for speech, so you will
spend most of the time as a speech user using layer 0. To get back to
layer 0, press keypad 0 twice quickly. Gnopernicus should say "layer
0."
