Sorry, my mistake.  Both kernels above boot on my IIfx with
the Serial Switch set to "compatible".

I'll try that on my LC III.  My IIfx is temporarily offline (I'm
trying to get a SCSI JackHammer card to work, but it's not recognised
by Linux or A/UX (but that's another story).
