Re: removing xdm



The only way I worked around your problem was to use a prompt screen and
find the xdm files and delete them manually. I changed to the root
directory: cd / and used the find command [find xdm* ]. I then used the
remove command to delete the xdm file: rm xdm*

If you can't get into a prompt, I was successful in just using the install
program to give me a prompt using the command lines option box as follows:
root = /dev/ram. The only thing I set up was the keyboard, switched to a
different console, removed the XDM file, and rebooted the system. This kept
all the previous work from being removed while disabling the X display
manager.

As touching dependencies, use dpkg to remove any dependencies that it lists
while attempting to remove xdm. I believe it lists something like
x-task-window-system. This is not a crucial for X, for XDM yes, not for X.
