ARGH... no, please don't tell him how to destroy his system. Debian is a
_distribution_ and not slackware. Please use the distribution tools to
install and remove packages.
The files might come back without you noticing (apt-get update; apt-get
upgrade) unless you remove the _package_ and not only the files in the
package. On the other hand, you might delete some other vital files....
But then, you seem to be used to reinstalling your system, just go ahead and
tell us when you have removed files by hand, so that I can set the mail
filter accordingly.
May I ask why you installed xdm in the first place? task package? Oh my...
