Install procedure?

Is there an install procedure documented anywhere for folks who can't use the
install floppies? I just got a kernel booting on my Mac SE/30, but it doesn't
have a working floppy driver.

I *can* unpack a tarfile onto an ext2 partition, and boot a kernel with an
arbitrary partition as root. I can also boot with ramdisk as root and unload
an arbitrary disk image file into it.

Can anyone else using a Mac without a working floppy driver describe how they
got things going?

I've managed it on a DEC Alpha (I've got a Multia running Debian Alpha), so if
there's no documented procedure, I can try to puzzle one out myself. If I do,
would it be useful to other folks?

(As an aside, it would be really useful if there were a cpio archive of a
minimally-configured installed system *after* the floppy install procedure
were finished, for each architecture. There are plenty of other systems out
there without any floppy drives (eg. I've used several Sparcs with no
floppies, the original NeXT Cube didn't have a floppy controller...).)

(Another aside: I'm eager to get my 3rd Debian architecture working -- I use
Debian i86 and Debian Alpha regularly now. After m68k will probably be Sparc
or PowerPC (whichever hardware I can get my hands on first), unless a Debian
ARM port occurs soon (I've got some ARM hardware).)
