RE: hamm - network access problems

Hi all...

First, I am *very* new at this linux/Unix world, so my problem may be a
"novice" ignorance.

Now that is said, I have installed the Debian 68k/linux on one of my
MacIIci systems. I am currently able to communicate with the outside
world (local lan; and via a gateway, to my ISP via telnet), all seems to
be ok as far as the network items are concerned... Now the problem.

I have had no success in establishing a link to the linux/mac machine
from another mac on my local net. My telnet app just say's he's trying
to connect to the linux/mac machine. I see no activity (not sure what I
would look at) on the linux mac. I just seem to ignore the connect
attempt. My guess is that I'm not doing some administrative task that is
needed.

Just today I learned about "run levels". I tried both lvl 2 an 3. Same
results.

This is what I have been using....
   maclinux.wwaves.com/pub/MacLinux/initrd/Debian68k Mac HFS.img.bin
   maclinux.wwaves.com/pub/MacLinux/kernels/vmlinux-2.0.33pl1-980518.gz

I have also downloaded the apache files and the
wu-ftpd-academ_2.4.2.16-9.deb file and successful installed via dselect.
[with a few other files needing to be update with them - whew!]

Sooo, what stupid thing have I done or not done...

Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Michael
