They are all locals to Montreal. What varies a lot here is the level of involvement in preparing the bid. I'll list below those who *I* have had fairly regular contact with for the bid process; which would mean those who I talk to regularly on IRC. > * Who are the people driving this effort. (I would appreciate if > Montreal also answers this last question). - Mathieu Trudel (cyphermox)... That's me. I've attended DebConf14; I'm a contributor (not DM or DD yet), and an Ubuntu developer. I happen to usually do the communications, but this shouldn't mean that I'll be the only person to ever post something on the mailing list. - Fabian Rodriguez (MagicFab) expressed interest early on in helping us out. He's one of our contacts at FACIL, a local free software community. - Jean Schurger (jeansch): a friend who also attended DC14; he's been a lot of help with preparing the wiki page early on, and volunteered a location for our meeting in December. - We've had a lot of coaching/mentoring from Tiago, who also happens to be in Montreal. It would truly have been difficult to present a bid in any kind of form without his mentoring. - Jerome Charaoui (lavamind) has spent a lot of effort on preparing a good proposal for College Maisonneuve as a potential location. Unforunately, this fell through but he's still looking into others. - Gabriel Fillion (LeLutin) has shown a lot of interest in the bid, and keeps cheering us on. - Louis-Philippe Véronneau (pollo) is lavamind's coworker, also got involved with looking into some of our location options. It's no surprise that none of us have had lots of experience with DebConf (either attending or helping organizing/helping out on site); and this makes it a high learning curve to organize the conference, but we're still ready to learn more and improve on our bid by answering the questions that will come up.
