Interestingly enough, I've just noticed the following motto/tagline,
which is well visible on the debconf website:
Bringing people together: The Annual Debian Development Conference
(Not that I'm attaching to it any particular meaning, but the fact that
it's there is indeed conveying a message which is very close to my
personal view of DebConf purpose.)
