Teckids workshops at DebConf15

Hi,

we have been asked by at least one out of Richard Hartmann and Martin
Krafft whether we would be willing to support DebConf15 in Heidelberg
with workshops for children.

Although we were reluctant to do because of the temporal proximity to
FrOSCon, we have decided to accept the invitation and to propose the
following offer.

WHO WE ARE
==========

Teckids e.V. is a youth organisation centred around technical workshops
in general and free software in particular. That said, our organisation
arose from the youth programme of FrOSCon, one of Germany's most
important free software conferences. Teckids has established a
well-founded network of kids and adolescents who engage free software
usage and development and prepare and run workshops for other children.
We reach out to approximately 200 children each year. Teckids takes care
of the legal matters accompanying both licensing of contributions, which
is a bit tricky for minors in Germany, and childcare.

On a more technical note, Teckids runs a, in its terms, quite impressive
infrastructure based on Debian and administered by adolescents,
including 11 year-old Simon Bruder who grew to be the youngest LPI
graduate in the world.

WHAT WE BRING
=============

 * Tutors for workshops, both in adult and in child age, to run
   workshops around Debian, LEGO robots, Arduino, Python or Blender,
   on 15th, 16th and 17th of August, or any desired subset

 * Technical infrastructure to provide participants with a decent Debian
   system to work on

 * A lot of information and material on free (as in speech) games

 * Pedagogically experienced personnel and legal framework for
   childcare in Germany

 * Whatever you like for the DebConf kids, as long as it appears
   feasable at first glance ;)

WHAT WE NEED
============

 * One or two rooms to run workshops in, providing tables and chairs

 * Ethernet uplink with unfiltered internet access and DHCP to connect
   our workshop server to

 * Travel and lodging costs being reimbursed by DebConf, at least
   a reasonable part

 * Some communication and groundwork to get DebConf and teckids'
   proceedings aligned

So, if you are still interested in Teckids running workshops at
DebConf15, please let us know quite soon, and feel free to ask any
questions arising.

Kind regards,
Nik
