It is not impossible to do :-] The good thing is that, as you say, it's just a different way to manage things. As long as you don't migrate away from your current master key, and just generate a subkey to use from the Yubikey, that subkey can be uploaded to the HKP keyserver. Then, it's basically a matter of doing a regular server push. I wouldn't advertise "same day" activation, but "soon enough". That is, if you have the workshop at the beginning of DebConf, I will happily schedule time to do a keyring push within a couple of days so that they are usable before the end of the conference.
