    I checked wikipedia with the hope to get some information about the
    advantage of star as file format over GNU tar, but little was
    described about this format, only the program is described:

    Since you wrote the program how do you think writing something
    there? I guess wikipedia established so much reputation that any one
    who came across star format might want to check it there first.

    I am sorry if this is ot, but star as archive software might often
    be used with CD burning together...
