I use a (more or less vanilla) SuSE 9.0 with kernel 2.4.21.
No such problems with self compiled
  Cdrecord-Clone 2.01.01a04 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2006 Jörg Schilling
or binary downloaded
  Cdrecord-ProDVD-Clone 2.01.01b03 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2006 Jörg Schilling


The fact that two different writers on different busses
show the same illness indicates that there is some
central problem with that particular computer system.
A bad kernel version is quite improbable by now.
Does the system show any other glitches ?
