i'm trying to burn a dvd iso (or copy a dvd on the fly) with growisofs and it bombs out saying it failed to change the write speed from 4x to 8x. "dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/cdrom1" reports 8x writing speed, but "cdrecord -prcap /dev/cdrom1" reports a max write speed of 4x. i have an nec 2500a and i'm using 8x media. any suggestions? thanks for the help. p.s. as for versions, i'm using what came standard with fedora core 2 (actually, they might be updated).
Please, check the version explicitly with 'growisofs -version'. I [for one] don't keep track on which version is shipped with any particular distro or when updated. If it's less than 5.19 (as mentioned at http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/hcn.hml), then update. If not, submit the actual dvd+rw-mediainfo output for the media in question. A.
