I've got the same drive as you, but since updating to 5.20.4.10.8, I can nolonger successfully write any dvd+rw, dvd+r or dvd-r

And I in turn wonder from which version did you upgrade and what does"no longer successfully write" mean. Does it fail to start recording andif so, what is the error message? A.
