I have a problem burning DVD+/-R with k3b.Everything seems fine until it reaches round about 965MB. Then everything hangs: k3b & growisofs. I have to use CTRL+ALT+ESC to kill k3b. Same with growisofs. And the burner seems to hang, since it takes two to three times to eject the media.This behaviour is regardless of the DVD-Media type +/-R(W).I have installed Windows XP Sp1a on this machine (just to test this) and it works fine with B's Gold 5. I used the same burner on a PIII System with Suse Linux 8.2 and k3b. DVD-burning (plus or minus worked fine).
So it's obvious that it's not an application problem, but kernel one. It's surely specific to your hardware configuration, most likely your particular IDE chip-set. This is probably not right list to discuss Linux kernel problems. I can recommed to try to collect kernel stack dumps with sysrq-t when kernel hung and turn to your vendor [suse] or kernel list.
