I absolutely see it as a threat.

You can add to threats: The Debian way becoming obsolete in many ways
because of a changing technical environment.

Can it be an opportunity?  I think so, but I don't see anyone working
on solutions.

Now I understand your question better.  I agree with you, but
unfortunately I think this is a key area where Debian used to be
respected for its solutions whereas now we're just lagging behind the
world.
