The really great thing about Knoppix and its descendants is its portability due to the great hardware detection. In most cases, you can install one of these on one system, then transfer the drive to another system fairly seamlessly. That was how I got Damn Small working on my laptop, since DSL didn't recognize my parallel port CD-ROM drive initially.

Is Debian so detection-capable ??.

Regards.

As per my previous post, Woody had problems with my motherboard, which uses the NForce chipset. I don't know what it's like nowadays.

I just downloaded the Net install CD image for Sarge. I'll be trying it out on a couple old systems that I'm tinkering with. We will see how the hardware detection goes with it. I won't be putting it on my primary system though, since Mepis is working fine for the most part (a couple minor issues I need to research, but it's serving my needs for now.)
