AFAIK installiert dir grub-splashimages schon welche in /boot/grub/...

Hmmm... Biste sicher, dass Dein Pfad wirklich stimmt? Meine irgendwo mal 
was gelesen zu haben, dass die Position von splashimage in der menu.lst 
nicht ganz egal ist. Aber kann mich auch irren.
