Try download the deb from

http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/k/kernel-image-sparc-2.4/

Make sure you get the latest sun4u image. Do this:

dpkg-deb --extract <file.deb> deb-tmp/

Then get the vmlinuz out of deb-tmp/boot/

This might contain the same problem.
