Hi Kristis;

I think it is probably not too realistic to expect debian to adapt
their tools to your expectations.  When/if you get more familiar with
the tools and the debian packaging process, feel free to file bug
reports for suggested enhancements.  In the meantime, please consider
that despite what might come across as a bit arbitrary and rough toned
from time to time, people here are trying to lead you to a state of if
not "best practices", at least "good enough practices" for your
package to enter the debian archive.
