There's no caselaw that I am aware of covering this particular issue
defining precisely where a derived work ends and a separate,
non-derived work begins in the context of dynamic linking.

If you have a few hundred thousands dollars to spend defining this
particular grey area via caselaw, feel free to do so. Until then,
there's not much that Debian can, or should do, but follow a
reasonable, conservative interpretation.
