Yes, that method using hooks is somewhat similar to pine's roles that Adam
mentioned, changing the configuration depending on who is being written to.
That is not what I want.
What I want is to be able to arbitrarily decide manually when I want the
signature appended. This would be similar to choosing the role in pine when
composing a message. Just to be able to press 'S' in the compose menu to
toggle between appending the signature or not. It seems strange that this
kind of option is not present in mutt, allowing one's whim to append a
signature.
Actually, I've downloaded the source, and it's not at all difficult to add
this feature. It seemed the best way of solving the problem. Should I
forward it to the mutt maintainer or the upstream authors?
