Non è proprio andata così:
"Michael Sweet, who owned Easy Software Products, started developing

Per quanto riguarda WebKit e LLVM è vero Apple in passato è stata il
principale contributore di WebKit (ora è Google) e LLVM (anche qui
Google si avvicina, se non l'ha addirittura già sorpassata). Tuttavia il
restante codice Open Source di Apple[1][2][3] non so bene quando possa
essere utile alla comunità Open Source, un esempio su tutti il kernel di
OS X, Darwin: rilasciato Open Source, ma mai usato da nessuno (che io
sappia).
Infine, il problema dell'alternativa a Skype è purtroppo un evergreen di
quelli senza risposta. In passato ho provato vari programmi che usavano
SIP (macchinosissimi), OpenWengo (ora forse ha cambiato nome), e altri
ancora ma nessuno era all'altezza. Poi, in realtà il problema di fondo è
ancora un altro: inutile avere la festa di compleanno più bella di tutte
se poi tutti i tuoi amici vanno da un'altra parte.
