Have you considered the fact that this action may take place after the
package was neglected for some time, so the person asking you for
confirmation is not the person who received the initial bug report?

I have no idea whether this is true for firefox, but that is a pretty
common situation: one of the first tasks of someone taking a package
over is to try digging in old bugs and triage them.

So, well, during the time we're having this discussion, you could
probably have confirmed all such bugs already by just answering "as I
already wrote in the bug report, this is a trivial to reproduce bug
and it is still there".
