kernel-images already have this facitlity, without the
redundant boot-loader stuff.

Since the kernl-image already has a hook function, and an
example script to run that changes grub menus, this is all redundant.
Can you show me what exactly is going to be achieved with all
this additional work that is not already in place? Or are we just
talking about busy work re-implementing existing functionality cause
we have little else to do?
