actually the instructions in /usr/share/doc/mozilla are to download a
precompiled binary from iplanet, this is quite non-free in all senses
of the word.  you just compile a wrapper library to make it not die
when it can't write to /usr/lib/mozilla.  

the Free software version of the PSM stuff looks like its being better
integrated into the mozilla tree so hopefully this won't be needed
much longer.  (though debian packaging may have to deal with silly US
laws in some way)
