Because we control the deb and the diff, but we do not control
the pristine upstream sources, which may have well known
cryptographic signatures on them outside the scope of Debian to
affect.
The very fact that someone else owns the pristine upstream
sources means that they fall in a different category.
Since we are setting precedent, I suggest we also look into
the ramifications of this decision.

for the death penalty just to make sure nobody gets the wrong
