I believe that the registration authority will force a squatter to give
up a domain name if someone who holds a trademark on that name (i.e.
Linus) files a complaint. It may be worth a letter from Linus to the
registration guys, just to see what happens.

To be fair, Fred van Kempen was the author of the 1st networking stack
for Linux. And although the stack since been replaced and rewritten (3
or 4 times depending on how you count :-), and Fred hasn't been as major
a member of the community since, it's not completely fair to say that he
was squatting on it. He did put up a web site on linux.com to promote
linux, after all. This puts him in a very different category from the
person who originally tried to grab "Linux" as a trademark, for example.
