Fine, but according to the discussions on this topic, whem
people argue that they want to use .deb or some other
format, they are NOT told that they must use RPM. They are
told that they can always use alien.
In other words, people aren't really saying "EVERYONE MUST
USE RPM", they're saying "LET'S STANDARDIZE ON RPM AND IF
ANYONE DISAGREES, LET THEM USE ALIEN". That way lies
irrelevance and chaos.
If instead you standardize on a package-independant process
for resolving dependencies (like looking in the actual
directories to find out if what you need is there) then
everyone can be happy - the RPMites and the DEBites and the
TGZites. And the user gets exactly what he/she needs.
