How did I not know about this?! It's an awesome resource, Mateusz - Thanks for doing it. 

I was going to re-do my graphical gopherspace geo-located map, but to be honest I'm not sure I shall bother, as servers seem to come and go at a fast rate these days (although sadly, the number still seems to sit around ~300 live servers).

Back on topic, re SSL/TLS, I'm also in the camp that gopher *is* plain-text port 70 only. Anything else isn't 'gopher'.  If you must evolve the protocol with SSL etc. then call it something else, i.e. SecureGopher or GopherSSL  (this would require a new 'standard', and all the people rolling their own SSL mechanisms to agree on the correct way forward... based on previous discussions on this list, I can't see that happening though.)
