Yes, it did. Bad idea to ignore but, not noticing so many experimental 
packages, and seeing that they were indeed Debian, well ... partly my fault 
anyway.

Doing it as a downgrade is very problematic.
Downloading the installing the desired packages was relatively painless, side-
effect free, if tedious. A couple more and my system is 100% OK. Few more 
"experimentals" still linger but are not meaningful.

Yup. That was more panic situation.
